New Kellscraft Studio Used Bookstore on eBay!

Welcome to Kellscraft Studio's Web Text-ures: Public Domain Books On-Line.  All of the books listed here are out-of-print, public domain books.  The focus is on books published prior to 1928 in the U.S. and many have wonderful illustrations.  Many of these illustrators are not popularly known, but still deserve recognition and credit for the works presented in many of the books listed here.  Some of these artists were never given credit in the books for their work, and are only listed here by the signatures on the illustrations. Some illustrations are unsigned and the illustrators may never be known.

I hope you enjoy these works and I encourage you to read the works on-line or print them out.  If you do print them, I would recommend you only do a chapter at a time, as some are quite lengthy. For those with vision impairments or who don't like to sit at a computer to read lengthy works, please note that the font pica when printed out, is easily readable.

I am also interested in hearing from my viewers/readers with suggestions, ideas or books you would like to see here in the future. Volunteers interested in researching little-known authors/illustrators listed here are encouraged and welcome! Feel free to contact me at:

Algonquin Legends of  New England, The . Charles G. Leland. London: Sampson, Low, Marston, Searle & Rivington. 1884.
A treasure trove of Native American myths and folk tales from New England, compiled by Leland in the 1880's. These tales are from the broader Algonquin-speaking groups from Canada and New England.  Leland tries to make connections from these tales to Norse legends, trying to prove contact between Norse and Native Americans. While this book was written well before the discovery of a Norse settlement from @1000 A.D. at  L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland, Canada, the proof of Norse influence on Native American culture is just not there. Read these for the tales, but take the comparisons to Norse tales with a hefty grain of salt. Enjoy!...

Johnson records their words as accurately as possible, and almost 50 years after the battles were fought, the horrors of war still come through. White and black attitudes on slavery, Rebels and Yankees are frankly recorded here. This is a must read, for as Johnson states in his preface: "But why should we not face the reality and see war in all its savagery? Nothing can so hasten the coming of the time when war as a method of settling disputes will not be tolerated as a clear understanding of its essential barbarism."....
