FROM LAKE TO LAKE;

OR,
A TRIP ACROSS COUNTRY.

A NARRATIVE OF THE WILDS OF MAINE.

BY
CAPT. CHARLES A. J. FARRAR,

AUTHOR OP "THE LAKE AND FOREST SERIES," "CAMP LIFE IN THE WILDERNESS," "THE ANDROSCOGGIN LAKES ILLUSTRATED," "MOOSEHEAD LAKE AND THE NORTH MAINE WILDERNESS ILLUSTRATED," ETC., ETC.

CAPT. CHARLES A. J. FARRAR.

PREFACE.

THE incidents that follow in these pages occurred during the year 1876, the first summer that a steamboat was ever run on the Richardson Lakes, and there have been marked improvements in the business of that region, also many changes in the places known to sportsmen and tourists at that time, in the intervening years.

The story is founded on the events that occurred during the author's first trip from the Richardsons to Parmachenee Lake, and it is hoped will please the general reader, as well as call to mind pleasant reminiscences to those more familiar with the country.

Should any of my readers ever make the trip from LAKE TO LAKE I sincerely hope that they may have better luck and better weather than I did.

CHARLES A. J. FARRAR.
